SAS Appoints New General Manager for Hong Kong and South China

Hong Kong (11 July 2005) - SAS Institute, the global market leader in business intelligence software and services, announced the appointment of Edvan Chan as its General Manager in Hong Kong and South China, to drive the business development of the company in the region. Chan joined SAS Hong Kong in May, bringing with him more than 18 years of sales operational leadership, professional service and technology management experience. In his new role, Chan will drive the company's strategic development in the region as well as oversee the day-to-day operations of SAS Hong Kong. "Over the past decades, SAS has been serving businesses in Hong Kong with cutting-edge, powerful business-intelligence solutions, empowering them to transform the way they do business and to make the right decisions," said Edvan Chan, the newly appointed General Manager of SAS Hong Kong and South China. Prior to SAS, Chan served Getronics (HK) Ltd as Business Solution Director, Greater China, where he spearheaded a new enterprise solution practice organization. Chan's thorough understanding of customers' demand and requirements in the BI market allows him to formulate upcoming business strategies for SAS in Hong Kong and South China. Chan also served as CEO & CTO for CP Associated Ltd, as General Manager for Baan HK and Technical Director for Baan Asia, and as Vice President of Advanced Technology Group for ComTEC Inc. Chan holds a bachelor degree in Computer Sciences from New York University and has a Master degree and PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Columbia University.
