SAS Institute Appoints New Greater China Director
- Business Intelligence leader sets for strategic regional growth -

(Sep 10, 2004) SAS Institute, the global market leader in business intelligence software and services, has announced to the appointment of Dawn Kung as Regional Director of Greater China, responsible for the strategic development and the day-to-day operations of SAS Greater China.

Kung's key objectives are to streamline the company's Greater China operational processes and to re-engineer the sales force as solution partners for SAS' customers.

"Dawn has had a great deal of success in Asia Pacific over the past 10 years. She will bring a wealth of knowledge in the areas of sales, process, business development and operational management within this region," said Phillip Beniac, Vice President of SAS Asia Pacific. "The AP team and myself are looking forward to working with Dawn to make this region even more successful for SAS."

Kung joined SAS Hong Kong in 1994 as Business Development Manager responsible for brand building and sales strategy, and was promoted to Managing Director for SAS Hong Kong/Southern China in 2000 with responsibility for the company's sales, marketing and consulting activities in Southern China. Under Kung's leadership, SAS recorded double-digit growth surge in Hong Kong Business Intelligence market since 2000.  Kung rejoins SAS from Citrix Systems, where she recently held the position of Managing Director, North Asia, overseeing the regions' operation and growth targets.

"My goal is to continue SAS' success in the region and ready the company for more scaleable growth by integrating resources across our different offices," said Dawn Kung. "The improved operational structure will be supported through investments in recruiting new roles and increased focus on our customer retention and key alliances that will continue our growth and leadership in the BI market space for Greater China.

According to IDC, South Korea, China, and India are the fastest-growing markets in the Asia-Pacific region, collectively accounting for 80% of incremental IT spending growth in 2004. SAS sees great potential in Asian markets and expects to invest in operations throughout Asia to support the expanding customer base.
