INTERNATIONAL EVENTS PLATFORM, Global Leaders, in association with leaders in business intelligence, SAS Institute South Africa, were instrumental in bringing international thought leader, much published author and Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter to South Africa.
On 3 July 2007, Prof Porter gave a presentation on 'Strategic Competitiveness for the Third Millennium', at The Forum at The Campus in Bryanston.
He is hailed as the "father of strategy", Prof Porter created the groundbreaking concept of the value chain and captured the complexity of industry competition in five underlying forces. His impressive list of credentials makes him one of the world's most sought after speakers. Furthermore, he is an advisor to heads of state and CEOs of multinational organisations.
Prof Porter addressed issues such as how to create and sustain a competitive business in South Africa and how to integrate strategy with corporate social responsibility. He also shared insight on the economic foundations of competition and new learnings on the principles of strategy.
Additionally, Prof Porter presented his 2007 South African Competitiveness update as well as his McKinsey award winning work on corporate social responsibility.
