SAS® EDUCATION PROFILE
Name: Nick Daudin
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Company: SAS Canada
SAS® History: My
first exposure to SAS was four
years ago when I was working in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with KLM
implementing workflow software that used SAS Business Intelligence
outputs.
Partner/Family: Marriage
means commitment. Of course, so
does insanity. Twelve years later and I’m still enjoying every minute
of both. We have one special little lady in our lives, and she’s
72 years old (bulldog years, that is).
Sports/Hobbies: Riding
my motorcycle on a twisty road.
Only bikers truly understand why dogs love to stick their heads
out car windows!
Favorite Foods: Very
partial to authentic French and Italian cuisine as long as it is
shared with good friends, a good bottle of red and no one worries
about the calories.
What your ideal weekend
would be: Breakfast in München, riding my bike through
the Stelvio Pass in Italy and having a wonderful supper in Monza,
then shop-till-you-drop in Milan.
If I could be anything
at all (besides a SAS programmer): Sitting in the left
seat in a 747-400ER flying the world on international routes and
watching the sun rise on the Sea of Japan and the sun set off
the coast of Ireland.
When I’m not programming
in SAS, I like to: Stay in shape doing
yoga and weightlifting so I can continue enjoying my good food as
well as continue to ride my bike and fly the DA40
One thing every SAS programmer should
know: When testing a new SAS program,
the ability to quickly comment or uncomment a block of statements
is really practical in order to put your ideas down in code and
test the program. How to do it:
In the enhanced editor on the Windows operating system, you
can highlight a statement or a block of statements and press
the CTRL key along with a forward slash (/) to place comments
around that statement or block of statements. Using CTRL +
SHIFT + / will remove line comments from a line that has them
if your cursor is on it or if you have several lines highlighted.
