Alan Hoffler of SAS Education was seemingly everywhere, interviewing
people for his video blog. For his insider’s perspective of the
Washington DC conference, please visit the SAS
Global Forum blog. You can peek behind the scenes to find
out what was going on: from pre-conference planning to on-site
coverage and post-conference wrap-ups, it’s all covered here in
writing and on video.
Twitter seems to be the application on everyone’s lips these days,
and SAS set the internet buzzing using the #SGF09 tag: here’s where
you can find the full range of tweets from the conference and beyond.
Within the messages you’ll find links to presentations and ‘on-the-ground’
insight from Global Forum attendees you won’t find anywhere else.
Where do all of these streams converge? For a great hub site
of all things Web 2.0 which took place at SAS Global Forum, please
visit the official NetVibes
site. Here, you’ll find a repository of blogs, Twitter streams,
videos, photos and news items, all surrounding SGF 09. Dive in
and explore!
Do you have photos of your own which you’d like to share? SAS
Canada has set up a public
Flickr photo-pool. You can contribute your own photos as well
as enjoy those posted by SAS staff and Global Forum attendees.
Feel free to leave comments as well.
SAS Global Forum is about more than just networking and interacting;
it’s a valuable learning experience for all who attend. The 2009
conferences award-winning papers can be found here.
On the other hand, perhaps you’d rather see all the papers: here’s where
you can find the entire list of SGF 2009 proceedings. Hopefully
you’ll be inspired to give a presentation of your own at SAS
Global Forum 2010 in Seattle.
Finally, speaking of awards, a little
more insight on our two winners of all-expenses paid trips to SAS
Global Forum. Dr. Arthur Tabachneck, Director of
Data Management at the Insurance Bureau of Canada, was this year’s
Customer Value Award winner. He was selected as the recipient of
the award due to his strong contribution to the TASS user group and
for assisting his co-workers to design innovative analytical approaches
to business issues, as well as actively contributing to SAS-L for
many years. Remember: it’s never too early to nominate
a colleague for the 2009 Customer Value Award. Our second winner
was Bell Canada’s Ron Kaine, Associate Director,
Credit Risk Management. Ron contributed the winning entry for the
unique application of SAS which was only available to insights subscribers.
Ron’s team has been using Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner to
optimize reporting and scorecard development. Congratulations to
both Art and Ron!
