Congratulations to the winners of the Trivia Game!
Darrell Kerchak, Trent Sloan, Leon Schiebel, Les Teichroew and
Scott Pittendrigh were the first five people to submit the correct
response for the trivia game in the last issue. The photo depicts
the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Thank you to all
the other participants who submitted their guesses.
The Royal Canadian Mint is one
of the world’s most modern mints. Designed by architect Etienne-Joseph
Gaboury and opened in 1976, the striking glass tower produces
billions of coins each year (184 million loonies and 700 million
pennies are pressed annually). This is where all Canadian circulation
coins are made, as well as those for 40 countries around the
world.
The Winnipeg facility is open to the
public for guided tours each
weekday. The tour includes the
viewing of a five-minute video
in the theatre area followed
by a 40-minute walking tour overlooking
the manufacturing facility where
the precise art, craft and science
of coin-making is revealed! More...
