SAS Canada Opens Winnipeg Office, Continues Canadian GrowthBusiness Analytics leader expanding presence in Western CanadaToronto, ON (10 May 2010) – SAS Canada, the leader in business analytics, today announced the opening of its first office in Manitoba as it increases its focus on growth in key markets. “We are increasing our investment in specific regions of Canada as more and more businesses understand the benefits of business analytics,” said Carl Farrell, President SAS Canada. “Businesses are looking to solve specific problems and they buy technology with this in mind. In an increasingly competitive environment business leaders need strategic insight in order to make the right decisions at the right time. SAS business analytics gives them the ability to do this.” Earlier this year, SAS Canada announced plans to add approximately 20 new positions across the country. This will increase its employee base by seven per cent, with particular focus on growing its sales force in 2010 in order to meet the continuing demands for its solutions. Andrew Maslyk has been appointed to lead the sales efforts in Winnipeg with additional staff recruitment underway. SAS remains the overwhelming leader in the advanced analytics market, according to IDC, with 33.2 per cent market share in 2008 (IDC, June 2009). According to Gartner, the number one spending priority in 2009 was Business Intelligence software; a technology founded on analytics. Additionally, Gartner recently listed advanced analytics as one of the top 10 strategic technologies for organizations in 2010. “Winnipeg is playing an increasingly important role in the recovery and growth of the Canadian economy,” said John Lawson, Director of western region for SAS Canada. “SAS business analytics solutions are ideally suited to help companies gain value from their data. This is particularly important in those sectors of the market that are driving growth in the province, including telecommunications, healthcare and insurance.” SAS Canada has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for eight consecutive years.
