Once again, SAS Canada Named One of Canada's Greenest Employers

Recognized for its commitment to environmental sustainability through its LEED headquarters and earth-friendly practices 

TORONTO, ON  (22 Apr. 2013)  – 

SAS Canada, the leader in business analytics, today was named one of Canada's Greenest Employers for 2013. SAS Canada was recognized for its commitment to environmental sustainability, its LEED Silver certified headquarters, and its earth-friendly employee initiatives. The list is published by Mediacorp Canada Inc.

By operating an eco-conscious business, we enable our company to grow and maintain a successful business without sacrificing our planet's natural resources," said Carl Farrell, President SAS Canada and Executive Vice President SAS Americas. "SAS Canada is a leader in environmental sustainability, not only for recognizing and demonstrating that sustainability requires conservative use of natural resources but also supplying software tools which help organizations manage their environmental footprint."

Now entering its 7th year, the Canada's Greenest Employers competition is organized by the editors of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project and recognizes the employers that lead the nation in incorporating environmental awareness into their organizational cultures. Employers are evaluated on four main criteria: (1) unique environmental initiatives and programs at each organization; (2) how successful they've been at reducing their organization's environmental footprint; (3) the degree to which their employees are involved in these programs and whether they contribute any specialized skills; and (4) the extent to which these initiatives have become linked to the organization's public identity, bringing new employees and clients to the organization.

Earlier in 2013 SAS Canada celebrated another successful year, announcing an 11 per cent increase in new software revenue over the previous year.  In response to ongoing growth and demand, SAS Canada announced that it will continue hiring for the fourth year in a row, increasing its employee base by 10 per cent, acquiring further domain expertise in areas like Fraud detection and prevention, Customer Intelligence and Information Management, to support and respond to customer demand for its business analytic solutions in these areas.

In addition, SAS Canada has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 11 consecutive years, and has ranked in the top 10 on the Best Workplaces in Canada list for four consecutive years. Its environmentally friendly Toronto headquarters was LEED Silver certified in 2008 and the company continues to generate public recognition for its leadership in corporate sustainability practices. SAS Canada was honoured with the Award of Excellence – energy conservation – at the 2009 Green Toronto Awards. The headquarters was also the winner of the Real Estate Excellence Award (REX) for Office Development of the Year in 2005.
