The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is a law passed by the Ontario Government with the goal of developing a fully accessible province for persons with disabilities by 2025. The law takes a proactive approach with respect to accessibility by developing and implementing accessibility standards.

While this legislation only applies to Ontario employees, we all have a shared responsibility with respect to creating an accessible community, regardless of where we live. We all have a goal to create a community that is inclusive of all persons and to ensure that no one is denied excellent customer service regardless of their disability.

SAS is committed to informing and educating our employees on not just the legislation but on how we can build an inclusive community that respects the members of the community that require special care.

SAS facilities are located in buildings offering wheelchair accessibility ramps, and there is direct elevator access to all SAS office floors on which meetings, courses and user groups will take place.

Upon request, SAS is pleased to provide visitors with an individual hearing enhancement unit to use during meetings, courses or user groups.

Upon request, SAS can provide a variety of visual enhancement options, including computer screen magnifiers, dedicated personal monitors and, with sufficient notice, customized printing of materials.
