SAS in the Government of Canada

With the mandate upon government institutions to improve accountability to Canadian citizens, in accordance with the Federal Accountability Act, there has never been a better time for government to optimize its approach to Information Management. This new approach will ensure that decision makers and service providers have access to accurate and timely data and information to support decision making, explain how decisions and actions, related to the policies, programs and, most importantly, services for Canadians, are arrived at.

By providing the data integration, reporting, forecasting, predictive modeling, and optimization needed to make accurate business decisions with foresight and confidence, SAS already supports the Government of Canada in a variety of ways, including:

  • The planning of human resources for Canada’s Public Service;
  • The prevention of improper payments of Canadian benefits;
  • The care of the National Register of Electors;
  • The production of statistics that help Canadians better understand their country, its
    population, resources, economy, society and culture; and,
  • The data Environment Canada needs to gather knowledge to benefit and inform those
    concerned with human and ecosystem health.
