Predicting the Future of Business Intelligence

Over the past few months, I conducted interviews with SAS executives, industry experts and leading research analysts – asking each the same set of questions about the role of business intelligence (BI) in the next two to five years. Those interviews gave rise to our cover story The Future of Business Intelligence

Dr. Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS, explains how SAS will affect the future of BI: “Now that SAS is actively involved [in the BI market], we’re really raising the bar as far as what you can actually use business intelligence for,” he says.

Three other SAS execs share their perspectives on BI for the cover story, which also includes samples of analyst commentary. You’ll find full interviews with analysts and industry experts online.

One noted analyst, Dan Vesset of IDC, predicts that BI solutions will become more broadly accessible to a wide range of users within the next few years. Look for his opinions in our Emerging Trends column.

As BI gains momentum, the demand for SAS skills will continue to increase. That’s why SAS is simultaneously honoring its long-term users and investing in the next generation of BI leaders.

What’s your vision for the future of BI? Take our online survey, where you can answer the same questions we posed to Dr. Goodnight.
