For the tenth consecutive year, SAS Canada named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers

Business analytics firm continues to offer exceptional work/life balance for its employees

Toronto, ON  (Oct. 07, 2011)  – For the tenth consecutive year SAS Canada, the leader in business analytics software and services, is one of Canada's Top 100 Employers . Now entering its 12th year, the Canada's Top 100 Employers list aims to determine which employers lead their industries by offering exceptional workplaces for their employees.

To develop this year's Top 100 list Mediacorp, a specialty publisher of employment guides and periodicals,   examined the recruitment histories of over 75,000 employers across Canada that it tracks for its popular job search site, Eluta.ca. From this initial group, Mediacorp selected 12,500 of the fastest-growing companies to apply for inclusion on the list. Another 2,500 companies and organizations, in specific industries that its editors wanted to examine more closely, were also selected. Employers completed an extensive application process that included a detailed review of their operations and HR practices.

"We received a record number of employer applications for the competition this year," says Richard Yerema, Author of Canada's Top 100 Employers at Mediacorp Canada Inc., which manages the competition. "We saw double-digit growth from all regions of the country, across industry categories and especially from the public sector. We have been organizing this competition annually since 1999 and we have never seen this level of attention from employers."

Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using eight criteria: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

SAS Canada is one of the top companies on the list, because of its commitment to environmental sustainability, wellness programs designed to keep their employees healthy, above grade employee benefits and community involvement.

"We remain committed to offering our employees an exceptional place to work because it's simply the SAS way of doing business," said Carl Farrell, President SAS Canada. "Quite frankly an inspiring workplace makes good business sense. If our employees are happy and committed they not only create better software but also help us build long-term relationships with our customers."
