Reed Business wins DM Review’s Innovative Solution Award using Teragram’s solutions

Business-to-business publisher recognized for enterprise content management implementation

CAMBRIDGE, MA.  (Jan. 12, 2009)  –  Teragram , a division of SAS and the leading provider of multilingual natural language processing technologies, today announced that long-standing customer Reed Business has won DM Review’s 2008 Innovative Solution Award in the Enterprise Content Management category. This award was created to recognize technological solutions that are groundbreaking and provide quantifiable business value.  Reed Business, a business-to-business publisher with more than 900 sites, uses Teragram’s solutions to process its vast amount of information.

“We were impressed with the quality of submissions this year, many of which demonstrated the innovative use of different technologies in tandem,” says Jim Ericson, DM Review Editorial Director. “It reflects the creativity that IT and business leaders are bringing to bear in solutions directed at specific business problems.”

Teragram’s technology suite, including automatic metadata generation, categorization, and taxonomy management, is helping Reed Business to process billions of b-to-b related documents, including information on 14 million companies, millions of people, and thousands of product categories and topics. Reed Business uses this technology to deliver better search results to its sites’ visitors and ensures that Reed Business’s new vertically segmented business-to-business site Zibb.com efficiently covers the 26 markets it services. Teragram’s solutions also helped Zibb face the norm of search results appearing a certain way, otherwise known as the “Google effect.” Zibb used Teragram’s suite to link its content to relevant information both through search and content pages, facilitating research and purchasing decisions within those 26 vertical markets

Using these innovative solutions, Reed Business is able to break down Zibb.com’s relevant content into four main tabs – “Everything,” “News & Blogs,” “Web,” and Directory,” and filter this content by company name, related topics, and related searches.  Also, with Teragram’s clustering ability within the Reed Business system, Zibb was able to process more than 2,000 documents per second.  This technology is also being deployed across more than 135 Reed Business websites through Zibb on Demand, a semantic network that covers more than 5 million entities, thousands of topics, and multiple content types.

“Teragram has helped Reed Business power the search behind Zibb.com, and enabled us to expose our users to a new search interface without completely overwhelming them,” said Graeme McCracken, Chief Operating Officer of Reed Business Search. “We look forward to working with Teragram to ensure that Zibb delivers fast and accurate content to its 26 vertical markets.”

“We are honored to have the Reed Business implementation of Teragram’s taxonomy management and automatic metadata generation solutions acknowledged by DM Review’s Innovative Solution Award,” said Yves Schabes, president and co-founder of Teragram. “Teragram will strive to consistently deliver knowledge management tools that large organizations need in order to manage their enormous amounts of data.”
