SAS spotlights value of analytics at Premier business analytics event

Premier Business Leadership Series in Orlando, 25-27Oct features Gen. Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), Jim Collins & more

CARY, NC  (Oct. 04, 2011)  – Analytics are hot, and getting hotter. A recent post on the International Institute for Analytics (IIA) website talked about the "proliferation" of analytics conferences. For business leaders facing big challenges and time constraints, choosing the right conference can be difficult.

If they can choose only one event this fall to better understand the business value of analytics and to hear from executives and noted speakers about leadership and technology innovation, the choice is clear: the Premier Business Leadership Series event in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 25-27, 2011, presented by SAS, the leader in business analytics.

This event, part of a global series in its 4th year, will bring together more than 600 senior-level attendees from the public and private sectors to share ideas on critical business issues.

The Series event in Orlando offers an unparalleled mix of business and technology trends, leadership advice, and networking opportunities. The line-up features renowned keynote speakers and panelists, including:

  • Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS
  • General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), U.S. Secretary of State (2001-2005)
  • Jim Collins, author of Built to Last, Good to Great, How  the Mighty Fall, and Great By Choice (scheduled for release this month)
  • Vijay Govindarajan, Director of the Tuck Center for Global Leadership at Dartmouth College
  • Tom Davenport, Research Director of IIA and best-selling author of Analytics At Work and Competing On Analytics
  • Tim Belk, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Belk Inc., a U.S. retailer
  • Tom Boyles, Senior VP of Global Customer Managed Relationships for The Walt Disney Co.
  • Maura Hart, CIO of Winn-Dixie, a U.S. supermarket chain
  • Alex Martins, President of the Orlando Magic, a National Basketball Association (NBA) team
  • Paula Puleo, Senior VP and CMO of Michaels Stores

Business decision-makers need answers faster than ever, and must make sense of exploding volumes of data -- on customers, operations, risk and more. "Analytics are a key part of the solution to this 'Big Data' challenge," said Jim Davis, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at SAS. "Analytics help organizations in all industries innovate, optimize and transform their organizations to compete and succeed in these challenging and turbulent economic times. For business leaders seeking innovative ideas on 'Big Data' and other challenges, the Premier Business Leadership Series event in Orlando is a treasure trove."

The themes of the Series event in Orlando (as with the two prior 2011 Series events in Antwerp and Singapore) are innovate, optimize and transform, with the goal of inspiring leadership best practices. Those best practices will be on display in Orlando via industry- and technology-specific breakout sessions led by SAS customers (for Customer Intelligence, Financial Services, Retail and Risk Management/Utilities), and in roundtable discussions led by SAS experts (on Analytics, Customer Intelligence, Social Marketing, Technology and Utilities/SMBs.)

At this invitation-only event targeted at executives (director level and above) and their specific issues and challenges, attendees will have the opportunity to network and share ideas with other business leaders who determine direction for their organizations.
