SAS Italy: Striking the balance between work and life
CARY, NC (Dec. 13, 2012) – Italian office of business analytics leader SAS ranks among the 35 best companies in the country for the third year in a row. SAS Italy earned seventh place in the 2013 rankings, up from twelfth in 2012. This result, according to Marco Icardi, CEO of SAS Italy, is linked to the alignment of human resource management policies with SAS' corporate values. This includes a strong focus on employee well-being, both in the workplace and in private life. Particularly in Italy, he points out, treating employees well contributes to the organization's success. Another area of excellence for SAS is in considering the entire organizational ecosystem in its policies. Customers, partners and other stakeholders, such as universities and institutions, are all essential to SAS' success.
"SAS' corporate philosophy is based on three key elements," explains Icardi, "communicate, engage and customize. Our commitment requires strong integration between Human Resources (HR) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). That means attention to organizational well-being as well as the health and safety of all employees in the workplace. Sustainably managing human resources is essential for competitiveness. For example SAS' relationships with universities, other companies and partners enable SAS to accelerate entry into the world of work for students or re-entry into the market senior IT professionals. Also important are flexible benefits for employees and their families ."
In times of crisis, the state does not ensure adequate social services to everybody. The private sector can do its part, helping provide access to education, health care and retirement planning in addition to a positive working environment. And for good reason: because work-life balance, according to Icardi, is a friend of profit.
