Best places to work in Germany – SAS ranks thirdSoftware vendor SAS awarded bronze medal for companies with up to 500 employeesHEIDELBERG (Feb. 24, 2011) – SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, is among the top three German employers, jumping ten places over 2010 rankings. SAS ranked third in the survey, "Best Companies to Work for in Germany 2011" (Deutschlands Beste Arbeitgeber 2011), in the category of companies with up to 500 employees. The Great Place to Work Institute® surveyed employees about trust in management, camaraderie, career opportunities, salary, and overall satisfaction in the workplace. Currently, SAS employs 450 workers in Germany and more than 11.000 worldwide. SAS' worldwide revenue is US$2.43 Billion and €114 Million in Germany. "Imagine 35 years of continuous growth! This can only be accomplished with an excellent and highly motivated staff," says Wolf Lichtenstein, CEO SAS Germany. "Our corporate culture is the foundation of our success and I'm proud to be part of the great team we have here in Germany. Every day we're focussing on achieving our common purpose and we have a lot of fun while doing so. Thanks to our corporate culture, we had record revenues in 2010 and we expect further growth this year. Accordingly, we plan hire more staff who fit our high expectations and our corporate culture at six of our offices. We're looking forward to welcoming these new colleagues." Frankness, fairness, fun at workThe reason for SAS Germany's excellent result in the highly regarded employer ranking is SAS' corporate culture, which is characterized by frankness, fairness and fun at work. SAS is notable for flat hierarchies and a friendly atmosphere, which invites workers to innovate and allows them to engage in trial and error. Additionally, SAS offers a variety of company benefits including a healthcare program, medical services and sports activities. An employee assistance program helps workers address personal challenges, providing such services as legal and financial advice, coaching for challenging circumstances and, of course, child-care services. "To be among the top three is a great success, because it reflects the satisfaction of our employees with their workplace," says Anne Dörrhöfer, Director Human Resources and Finance at SAS Germany. "Since the founding of SAS Germany, we adhere to the philosophy that a sense of well-being and commitment are inextricably linked. We are very pleased that the corporate culture we work so consistently to nourish is received so well by our employees. Our outstanding business development and the very low turnover rate are the best signs that we should keep following that road – collectively." Top employer around the worldSince its founding in 1976, employee satisfaction and motivation has always played a major role for the company. For SAS founder and CEO Jim Goodnight it is of utmost importance to show all SAS employees that they all are a part of the company's success story. "And," says Goodnight, "'If you treat employees as if they make a difference to the company, they will make a difference to the company." In January 2011, SAS was voted the #1 Best Company to Work For in America for the second year in a row. Also, in many other countries SAS ranks regularly among the best-in-class in similar contests.
