Penang Adventist Hospital picks SAS® to speed financial decisions

PENANG  (Dec. 17, 2008)  – Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) has invested in SAS® Financial Management to help speed up financial and budgeting processes, ensuring the not-for-profit healthcare provider continues to give the best healthcare services at the most affordable rate.

Speaking at the signing ceremony with SAS Malaysia today, Dato’ Teddric Jon Mohr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penang Adventist Hospital said SAS Financial Management will also enhance planning and budgeting functionalities to address detailed business requirements for meeting present and future needs.

Prior to SAS Financial Management, PAH’s finance department was handling financial planning and budgeting manually, a very extensive and time-consuming process. Many of the hospital’s key resources had to be locked down regularly to undergo the tedious planning and budgeting process cycle.

“SAS Financial Management will not only cut time and energy needed for budgetary and planning, but with the projected increase in business transactions volumes, our finance department will be able to act as ‘strategic advisor’ in the administration of PAH,” remarked Mohr.

PAH executives also liked SAS’ has a strong local presence in Malaysia and its ability to work collaboratively with customers, both directly and through SAS channel partners. Selatan Systems Advisory, the strategic channel partner for SAS in Malaysia’s northern region. played a key role in supporting and helping to meet PAH’s expectations and requirements.

Despite its not-for-profit status, PAH believes in investing in the best, be it healthcare systems or medical equipment, while keeping medical fees at an affordable rate.

“PAH chose SAS because of its advanced analytics, its Business Intelligence (BI) solution for healthcare industry, domain knowledge, industry-specific customer references in Malaysia and globally, and prudent partnership program. We are happy to be signing and sealing the agreement with them today,” said Mohr.

Jimmy Cheah, Managing Director of SAS Malaysia said, “With the challenging times, healthcare providers are increasingly looking for ways to reduce expenses and improve operational effectiveness. We are honored to be selected by PAH for this collaboration as it is a testament to SAS’ capability and commitment in meeting customers’ expectations.”
