SAS is the Best Place to Work in Norway

Once again ranked #1 by Great Place to Work

OSLO  (Mar. 10, 2011)  – Yesterday, SAS was once again recognized as Norway's best employer by Great Place to Work Institute. "This is amazing. We're surprised and very honored," says Country Manager Kåre Nygård.

Building a culture that rewards results, innovation and enthusiasm while also promoting personal and professional growth for employees is key to the success of the SAS office in Oslo.

SAS, the leader in business analytics, has a strong history with the Great Place to Work program – both in Norway and internationally. It is the fourth time the company has competed in Norway, resulting in first places in 2007 and 2010 as well as second place in 2009. Thus this year's award is the fourth placing the company at the very top of the list of Norwegian organizations.

"Our founder, Jim Goodnight, has built one of the world's largest privately owned software companies based on this philosophy: if you treat people as if they make a difference, they will actually make a difference. We know that the quest for talent is not about pay. It is about creating a flexible work place where, on the one hand, workers are encouraged to balance work and personal life and on the other hand are offered professional challenges and responsibility in a competent and stimulating environment," Nygård adds.

The award is based on survey feedback from the participating companies' employees. The results for SAS show that:

  • 92% of the employees are proud to tell others that they work for the company.
  • 95% feel that management is honest and ethical in its business methods.
  • 96% feel that this is a positive place to work.
  • 97% feel that the employees are willing to put in an extra effort to get the job done.

"We can't rest on our laurels, but will continuously evolve as an exciting and competitive company. In 2011 we are strengthening cooperation across national borders in the Nordic region by establishing regional "Centers of Excellence" for risk management, customer value and IT. The demand for our skills now leads us to look throughout the Nordic region for new and talented employees," Nygård concludes.
