SAS CEO Jim Goodnight to speak at Milken Institute Global Conference

Goodnight will moderate panel titled ‘Infusing Technology into Education for Economic Competitiveness’

CARY, NC (Apr. 24, 2009) – Jim Goodnight, CEO of business analytics leader SAS, will don his favorite non-business role Monday: passionate global advocate for education. At the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, he will lead a panel discussion on using technology in classrooms to engage students and prepare them for life and careers in the 21^st century. He will also participate in a panel on the economy, moderated by Forbes Inc. CEO Steve Forbes.

Goodnight’s Milken appearance comes just days after he met with US Education Secretary Arne Duncan to discuss the importance of education technology. He also outlined the progress of the North Carolina 1:1 Learning Technology Initiative and SAS’ award-winning online curriculum product, SAS® Curriculum Pathways®, now available to all US educators at no cost.

Goodnight’s panel will cover policy issues that impede innovation, education funding, and issues to consider when providing students and teachers access to laptops.
