SAS to offer complete CRM solutions for telecommunications industry with HP

SAS to deliver with HP end-to-end software and infrastructure solutions

MIAMI, FL  (July 21, 2003)  –  SAS, a leader in business intelligence, today announced an agreement with HP to offer SAS’ customer relationship management (CRM) solutions in combination with HP services and solutions for customers in Latin America’s telecommunications industry. This relationship will help drive new SAS® software sales by drawing on HP’s expertise in the Latin American telecommunications market and enabling HP Services to position SAS applications as a part of HP’s solutions throughout the region.

The agreement combines powerful SAS analytical applications and data warehousing technology with HP’s innovative computing infrastructure and services, delivering proven end-to-end solutions for Latin American telephone and mobile operators, as well as telecommunications equipment providers.

For SAS, HP provides the network expertise in voice, data and billing necessary for creating an effective CRM solution that is integrated into the enterprise. In addition, the agreement expands HP’s solution portfolios with proven, award-winning SAS solutions in targeted solution areas, beginning with SAS Customer Retention for Telecommunications.

In this highly competitive market, retaining customers and acquiring new ones means the difference between success and failure. Only through complete, end-to-end solutions can carriers, mobile operators and other service providers effectively compete in the market, improve customer relationship management functions, reduce churn and, ultimately, increase their profitability.

Leveraging existing relationships

SAS solutions help companies leverage their investments in existing operational and transactional systems and draw intelligence from them. For example, SAS Customer Retention for Telecommunications helps organizations identify patterns in customer call records that can be used to enhance customer outreach and one-to-one marketing programs.

SAS works closely with partners to give customers access to its software through indirect channels, allowing them to work with the integrators of their choice to acquire a complete solution. Partners also give SAS access to customers in new markets that have, in the past, been difficult to penetrate.
