SAS inSchool releases Curriculum Pathways® 2008New features include award-winning Writing Reviser, navigation by state standards and teacher blogATLANTA (June 25, 2007) – SAS inSchool today announced the release of Curriculum Pathways 2008, the latest version of its flagship Web-based educational product, at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in Atlanta. Used by thousands of students and teachers in more than 30 states, Curriculum Pathways provides high schools, community colleges and virtual schools with core content in English, mathematics, social studies, science and Spanish. It has more than 170 InterActivities and 855 ready-to-use lessons that enable technology-rich instruction and engage higher-order thinking skills. “The 2008 edition of Curriculum Pathways has some of the most significant enhancements we’ve ever made,” said Kathy Lee, Director of the SAS Education Practice. “We’ve introduced the Writing Reviser, which goes beyond pointing out grammar or spelling mistakes and helps students see opportunities to make their work more compelling. Also, all content can now be navigated by individual state standards. We’ve added several new and engaging InterActivities and a teacher blog for sharing ideas within a school.” Last month, the Writing Reviser won a Duke's Choice Award from Sun Microsystems. The awards honor the best and most innovative new products using the Java platform. The Writing Reviser uses research-based practices to analyze student work, employing an English language parser, a rules engine and a sophisticated set of language rules to help students make their writing more clear, concise and powerful. Teachers can now navigate Curriculum Pathways using their state standards (previously available for three states only). By linking to those standards, the resources enable teachers to target specific curriculum requirements. The new blogging capability in the Teacher’s Edition provides a simple and effective way to share best practices within a school. Other additions to Curriculum Pathways 2008 include Interactivities in Spanish, ancient civilizations and algebra. InterActivities are online simulations, multimedia resources, and innovative tools that engage learners and target critical thinking skills.
