SAS wins DM Review World Class Solution award

SAS® Supplier Relationship Management solution garners top honors for analytic applications

CARY, N.C. (June 3, 2003) – SAS, the leader in business intelligence, today announced that SAS and Bayer CropScience in the United States have been honored with the DM Review World Class Solution award for packaged analytic applications.

SAS and customer Bayer CropScience were selected by industry experts from a field of five finalists for the award which originated in 1996. According to Ron Powell, publisher and editorial director of DM Review, "We’re pleased to present Bayer CropScience and SAS with our World Class Solution award. Bayer CropScience has demonstrated true business value with their implementation of an industry-leading, analytics-driven solution."

Awards were given to both SAS and Bayer CropScience for its implementation of SAS® Supplier Relationship Management. By using this application, procurement staff and company executives have a complete picture of their spending, supplier behavior and contract compliance, enabling decision makers to match business objectives with supplier performance, identify areas of cost consolidation and rank suppliers based on their importance to the organization.

"By combining SAS SRM with other business programs, we’ve saved $10-15 million dollars," said Burgess Perry, manager of North America supply chain strategy at Bayer CropScience. "We’re excited that our work has been recognized as industry-leading, and we hope to continue to create innovative, IT-based solutions for our business goals."

"We believe we offer industry-leading solutions to our customers’ business needs," said Christine Kelly, director of SRM strategy, SAS. "By being awarded the DM Review World Class Solution award, Bayer CropScience is yet another example of how SAS provides top-notch business intelligence and analytics. Kudos to Bayer CropScience and all those involved with the implementation of this successful supplier relationship management solution."
