Goodnights presented William C. Friday AwardAward honors exceptional leadership and serviceCARY, NC (Apr. 28, 2008) – Jim Goodnight – CEO of SAS, the leader in business intelligence – along with his wife, Ann, have been presented with the ninth William C. Friday Award by North Carolina State University’s Park Scholar class of 2008. The Goodnights were honored for “significant contributions to the betterment of the human condition.” In particular, they were recognized for their leadership in education and the community through their substantial involvement in the Friday Institute, Cary Academy and the North Carolina Museum of Art. After co-founding SAS more than 30 years ago, The Goodnights have focused the company’s philanthropic efforts on improving education throughout North Carolina and the nation. Ann Goodnight, Director of Community Relations for the company, heads up philanthropic activities on behalf of SAS and is a member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. The award is named after its first recipient, William C. Friday, longtime UNC president and NCSU alumnus. The senior Park Scholar class, along with Friday, selects the recipient annually. Recipients embody the characteristics of the Park Scholarships program: commitment to education, leadership, service and character. Honorees are selected on the basis of exceptional leadership and service.
