SAS to host ‘Breakthrough’ author Keith McFarlandGreater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce event focuses on growing businesses beyond their entrepreneurial beginningsCARY, NC (Apr. 22, 2008) – Could any Triangle-area company grow like its neighbor, global business intelligence leader SAS? That’s the question best-selling author Keith McFarland will answer on Tuesday, May 6, when his book tour stops at SAS world headquarters. McFarland, whose book The Breakthrough Company: How Everyday Companies Become Extraordinary Performers debuted at No. 1 on the Wall Street Journal’s best-seller list, will share insights and evidence he gained during five years of research. He found that most companies stay small – only one-tenth of 1 percent of companies exceed US$250 million in annual sales. SAS, with revenues exceeding $2 billion, bucked the trend and is one of nine companies cited in the book.
