SAS and Catalyst Consulting simplify data analysis in Six Sigma®Black Belt, Green Belt training incorporates JMP® for Visual Six SigmaCARY, NC and LONDON (Apr. 19, 2007) – Catalyst Consulting, Europe's leading provider of Lean Six Sigma solutions, has added Green Belt and Black Belt Lean Six Sigma training programs specifically designed to exploit the advantages of JMP® for Visual Six Sigma. The partnership between SAS and Catalyst Consulting expands Catalyst’s range of training, consulting and coaching support for Lean Six Sigma. The combination of Catalyst Consulting’s training and coaching expertise and the dynamic data visualization capabilities of JMP software enables clients to implement data analysis methods within the context of Six Sigma® and related methodologies better, faster and with lower overall cost. "Six Sigma was originally developed in the 1980s, before the Graphical User Interface was released, before statistical packages had embraced graphical interactivity. This made education about statistical concepts more difficult than it is today with interactive graphical systems like JMP," explained John Sall, Executive Vice President and co-founder of SAS and the primary architect of JMP software. "Now the concepts behind Six Sigma methodology can be taught more easily and rapidly, and insights for process change developed faster. With Visual Six Sigma, users spend less time learning statistical theory and move sooner into problem-solving techniques. There is less chance for burn-out and resistance as prospective Green and Black Belts experience success sooner." According to Andy Liddle, Associate Partner, Catalyst Consulting: "JMP has very extensive functionality, and it is also extremely user-friendly. The dynamic visual approach to statistical analysis in JMP allows users to visually explore the relationships between process inputs and outputs, and rapidly identify the key process inputs. There are also excellent modeling facilities to optimize processes for robustness. The dynamic visualization approach is complemented with statistical analysis, in a way that aids understanding, communication and reporting." Added Andrew Ruddick, Associate Director, Catalyst Consulting: "It has allowed us to develop an exciting new approach to the training of Lean Six Sigma, with less emphasis on statistical theory and more on real-life problem-solving. JMP will enable Catalyst Consulting to obtain a broader spectrum of client users who will get value out of statistical approaches to problem-solving."
