Nth Analytics selects SAS to improve delivery of clinical trial analyses

Pharmaceutical services company to serve clients’ needs more efficiently

CARY, N.C.  (March 06, 2006)  – Nth Analytics has chosen SAS® Enterprise BI Server to improve the process of sharing data with its clients. The company provides clinical trial biometric analyses for pharmaceutical companies and seeks to improve the process of sharing those analyses. SAS, the leader in business intelligence, is already ubiquitous in the pharmaceutical industry as a means of interpreting clinical research data.

Nth Analytics faced the challenge of multiple SAS programmers providing code with too much variation, said Mike Todd, the company’s president. “We have good, experienced SAS programmers, but it was difficult to get consistent SAS code from them,” he said. “With SAS Enterprise BI Server, the data is much more manageable because the software writes the code for you. We will enjoy a major competitive advantage because it will be much easier to quickly validate our programs, putting us on the cutting edge of technology for reporting.”

Anne Russotto, senior project manager at Nth Analytics, says the server has improved efficiency. “Our old process required constant uploading and downloading, but with SAS, we’re all working in real time on the same server. I can work on code and see what everybody else has done without going back and forth. In a distributed company this is a major advantage,” she said.

SAS Enterprise BI Server also delivers improved security. “SAS’ metadata management gives us a lot of control and security over our clients’ data,” Todd said. “We have employees distributed all over the country. With SAS, we can access data on multiple databases and platforms and we work directly off the server, so we are all using a single, consistent view of the information.”

Todd says these improvements will help Nth Analytics become more responsive to clients, improve the efficiency of internal processes, and expand its business.

Details on SAS’ comprehensive vision of BI are available at the SAS Business Intelligence Web portal.
