SAS launches JMP® Student Edition statistical software, available only with preferred statistics textbooksVisual, interactive software helps students master statistical concepts quicklyCARY, NC (Feb. 07, 2007) – SAS, the leader in business intelligence and advanced analytics, today announced the availability of JMP 6 Student Edition, a streamlined version of its JMP statistical discovery software for the academic market. Leading textbook publishers will distribute JMP Student Edition, bundled with their textbooks, through college bookstores. JMP Student Edition contains all the statistics covered in first-year and intermediate college statistics courses. Students will find the software easy to learn and apply in their coursework, and ideal for projects and presentations. JMP 6 Student Edition gives students who purchase textbooks a personal copy of a streamlined version of JMP to install on their own computers. The full version of JMP 6 software is already licensed by hundreds of universities, making it available to faculty, researchers and students on departmental or campus servers. “JMP is the ideal software for learning statistics. It’s a visual and interactive application that offers an intuitive interface that mirrors the applied real-world approach of modern courses,” says Curt Hinrichs, JMP Academic Program Manager. “This streamlined version of JMP has all the capabilities an elementary or intermediate student needs, without the higher price or advanced features of our full corporate and academic versions of JMP.” McGraw-Hill Education, which publishes close to 100 statistics titles, will be among the first to distribute JMP Student Edition bundled with selected texts. “Our titles in statistics and quantitative business have grown in market share by over 10 percent in the past three years, in large part due to our authors’ dedication to incorporating technology into their books,” says Dick Hercher, Executive Editor for Operations and Decision Sciences at McGraw-Hill/Irwin. “This new venture with SAS will allow adopters of our best selling titles by Lind, Marchal and Wathen; Bowerman and O’Connell; and Doane and Seward to provide students with highly developed texts and state-of-the-art statistical software at affordable prices. We look forward to releasing JMP Student Edition with these authors’ titles for spring and summer 2007 courses.” Publishers interested in distributing JMP Student Edition with their textbooks may do so under contract with SAS. Professors selecting textbooks that are bundled with JMP Student Edition also may be eligible for JMP support and training as part of the JMP Academic Partnership program. Publishers may contact Curt Hinrichs at Curt.Hinrichs@jmp.com for more information. For information on JMP academic programs and products, see www.jmp.com/academic.
