Dear Readers,

Many of you work in marketing, so you may get a laugh when I tell you of my June SAS Business Report gaffe. Although marketing trends change, there seem to be some consistent “rules.” Two that come to mind: Publish press releases that you want to hide on a Friday afternoon. And never, I mean, never mail a newsletter while the subscribers are on vacation or gearing up for a big holiday! I hope you will go back and check your June issue of the SAS Business Report. The Webcasts are archived for you, and the articles were great! For instance, did you read The Dirty Tricks of Selling? And, there are more. I promise.

There is a Web site that I left out of this edition. I ran out of room and time, but it should be top-of-mind if you have questions about how your organization can benefit from using business analytics. Read articles from Thomas H. Davenport, Thornton May and Chris McCann; peruse to Webcasts, videos and podcasts; and ask questions of the business analytics experts.

SAS Helps Royal Bank of Canada Avoid $15 Million in Credit Fraud Loss »
Royal Bank of Canada wanted a way to reduce losses by detecting fraudulent mortgages, loans and credit lines before they cost the bank money. Using SAS 9.2 and SAS/STAT RBC avoided millions in credit fraud losses, with a low false-positive ratio indicating minimal hindrance to legitimate, valid customers - within the first year!
