SAS to present with CDISC at HIMSS07HIMSS07 is shaping up to be the premier healthcare management conference of 2007, with keynote speakers Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft; Gen. Colin Powell, Former US Secretary of State; and Dr. Stephen Covey, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Franklin Covey. The conference theme promises that “innovations will happen” – through presentations, exhibits, networking and educational seminars. During the conference, an Interoperability Showcase on the exhibit floor will provide organizations with an opportunity to demonstrate how they’re gearing up to meet President Bush’s challenge of accessible interoperable electronic health records for most Americans by 2014. Attendees will be able to create their own personal healthcare record to access throughout the showcase in multiple healthcare settings – giving them a way to see cutting-edge technologies and standards that enable interoperability and to learn how different vendors are incorporating interoperability into their products. By interacting with different applications in the showcase, attendees will also gain an understanding of IT applications in a variety of patient care settings.
Demo of the Request Form for Data-Capture (RFD) profile
RFD provides a method for gathering data within a user’s current application to meet the requirements of an external system. It supports the retrieval of forms from a source, enables the display and completion of the form, and the return of data from the display to the source application. RFD also provides the ability to integrate industry standards that address both the structure and content of data-capture forms. The RFD profile offers the opportunity to explore how we can overcome one of the most significant challenges in global healthcare – integrating business processes and electronic information systems among broader constituents in the healthcare ecosystem.
CDISC’s efforts to develop standards
SAS’ deep commitment to the development of data standards in healthcare and life sciences has led to our extensive partnership with CDISC since 2000. We’re excited to collaborate with pharmaceutical companies and technology providers in four critical areas:
Electronic health records will serve as a cornerstone for improving human health products and services. By creating a mechanism for early exposure to the issues related to using these records, participants can see firsthand how their business processes and technologies will need to evolve in order to thrive in this information-rich environment. The conference will provide great learning and networking opportunities. Learn more at www.himss07.org.
