SAS CEO Jim Goodnight Speaks at WCIT

Nearly 2,000 participants gathered in Austin, TX, May 1-5 for the 15th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) conference.

The conference highlighted three critical global issues: privacy and security, digital access and healthcare in the 21st century.

SAS CEO Jim Goodnight participated in a panel discussion, "Digital Access -- Global Impact," and shared his views about education, stressing the importance of having a prepared work force in a high-tech world.

He was joined by an esteemed group of panelists that included:

  • Moderator David Kirkpatrick, Senior Editor for Internet and Technology of FORTUNE magazine.
  • Steve Rohleder, Chief Operating Officer, Accenture.
  • John Gage, Chief Researcher and Vice President of Science Division, Sun Microsystems.
  • Yeongi Son, President and CEO of Korea Agency for Digital Opportunity and Promotion.

Other WCIT speakers of note included:

  • Retired Gen. Colin Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State.
  • Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
  • Dell Chairman Michael Dell.
  • Xerox Chairman and CEO Ann Mulcahy.
  • Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini.

WCIT is held every other year, alternating between the United States and locations outside the U.S. This marks the first year SAS has participated in the conference.
