Nicole Huber, Chief of Staff of the Mayor´s Office, City of Heidelberg, on how social media analytics helps them generate engagement with a tech-savvy urban population.
Nicole Huber studied law at the University of Freiburg and the University of Heidelberg and started her professional career as an attorney. In 2006, she became the Chief of Staff to Dr. Eckart Würzner, the mayor of Heidelberg. Her portfolio has since included running the mayor’s office and overseeing the international relations of Heidelberg, in addition to duties as the General Manager of the Heidelberg Club International.
Her specific interests include developments in civic participation and transparency, particularly with a view to overall shifts toward digital and social media. Together with international partners, Huber has led the overall social media strategy of Heidelberg – a city that now ranks among the pioneers in Germany in science and social media.
