More about Thornton May's keynote presentation
Welcome to the Age of Analytics. As we move forward from this point in time, the old "know" is no longer sufficient. In every vertical market, thinking and decision making have to be linked with the tools, processes and practices of analytics if we are to know and then act upon the physical and virtual worlds we simultaneously inhabit. Showing up is not enough. In the not-so-distant future, guessing and making things up, not having the right data and employing the wrong algorithms to the right data will come to be viewed as termination offenses. Hear compelling insights from Thornton's upcoming book, The New Know, and results from his multi-year analytics research.

  • Who is ahead of the curve.
  • Lessons from analytical heroes.
  • Stories from some of the smartest practitioners in the world.
  • What the future of analytics really looks like.

"Thornton is in the top tier of business technology industry intellectuals. I personally think he is a genius. My definition ... smarter than me and most everybody else ... always is out front on ideas and uses completely fresh perspectives on issues and challenges in business ... and balances it all with razor sharp wit. Nobody ever goes away after an encounter with Thornton without being enriched."

More about Stephen Baker and The Numerati
Stephen Baker understands how math impacts our lives. His book, The Numerati, is a captivating look at how a global math elite (called the Numerati) is predicting and altering our behavior, everywhere. Every day we produce loads of data about ourselves simply by living in the modern world and a savvy group of mathematicians and computer scientists is beginning to sift through this data to dissect us and map out our next steps. Their goal? To manipulate our behavior – what we buy, how we vote – without our even realizing it. But the Numerati can also work on our behalf, diagnosing an illness before we're aware of the symptoms, or even helping us find our soul mate. Stephen discusses this powerful new endeavor – the mathematical modeling of humanity – and how it will transform every aspect of our lives, including how organizations can use math to create a competitive advantage.
