Sven Crone is one of the few speakers who has conducted applied research and consultancy projects in both data mining and forecasting. As a result he has been a practitioner keynote speaker at both data mining and forecasting conferences, as well as joint conferences, including the upcoming Predictive Analytics World 2013 in London and Berlin. Crone is an Assistant Professor in management science at Lancaster University, UK, where his research on forecasting with artificial intelligence has resulted in more than 40 peer-reviewed articles (including EJOR, JORS and IJF) and international awards. As the Deputy Director of the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting (one of the largest units dedicated to business forecasting, with 15 staff members and PhD students), Crone has more than 10 years of consultancy experience in corporate projects, including supply chain forecasting (e.g., Beiersdorf, Sanofi-Aventis, Bayer, Celanese, Hapag-Lloyd), retail forecasting (e.g., Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Wilkinsons), and utilities demand and price forecasting (e.g., DONG, Codelco). Crone regularly provides corporate training courses for the forecasting center, IBF and IEEE worldwide, as well as custom in-house courses. He has been a regular speaker at more than 50 academic and practitioner conferences, including different keynote lectures. Edward Gaffin is Director, Marketing Analytics and Optimization for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, FL were he leads the effort to identify opportunities to drive higher marketing efficiencies in the marketing mix via development of a central marketing optimization platform. His team also provides various research, modeling, and reporting projects in support of the marketing strategy of the domestic lines of business including Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, and Disney Vacation Club. Prior to joining The Walt Disney Company he held similar analytical positions in the financial services industry, and a major retail site location consulting firm. Since he co-founded SAS in 1976, Jim Goodnight has served as the company's Chief Executive Officer. The worldwide leader in business analytics, SAS has more than 13,500 employees in 55 countries. The company's 2012 revenue was $2.87 billion, its 37th consecutive year of growth and profitability. Goodnight considers his employees to be his most valuable asset and has created a world-renowned workplace model. In 2012, SAS ranked No. 1 on the World's Best Multinational Workplaces list from Great Place to Work Institute. Goodnight has a Ph.D. in statistics and speaks internationally on leadership, education, and innovation. As Co-Founder and CEO of Link Analytics, Will Hakes leads teams of world-class data scientists, statisticians, mathematicians, and consultants, ensuring that Link's Big Data Analytics solutions drive competitive advantage and lasting organizational change for clients. Will's career has been dedicated to the application of advanced analytics, solving the most dynamic and complex problems across industries. He has led analytical powerhouse teams at Fortune 500 and small companies alike, and helped engineer integrated analytical solutions across a wide variety of verticals, with a particular emphasis on Communications and Financial Services. Prior to founding Link, Will was President of Advanced Analytics, a division of Aspen Marketing Services, and served as Chief Marketing Officer of AMC Inc, the world's largest wholesale trade exchange.
Will received his PhD in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University where he specialized in the application of quantitative methods to marketing problems. He received his MBA and MS from Georgia State University and his BS in International Affairs and Economics from Georgia Tech, graduating with Honors. He currently serves on several Boards at Kennesaw State University and is a Marketing Board member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).
View a video interview with Will Hakes. Vinicius Vivaldi is a Senior Analytics Solution Architect for SAS supporting the Communications, Content, & Entertainment Business Unit. He leads developing inventive analytic industry applications for Fortune 1000 clients, provides technical advice and mentoring for SAS customers as well as supports various analytical proof of concepts. His areas of expertise include Data Mining, Text Analytics and Social Media Analytics. He started his journey with SAS in the Latin America division where he supported analytical solutions throughout Latin America while managing the pre-sales support team for countries in the Caribbean and the Andean region of South America. Prior to joining SAS he was leading analytical projects in one of the largest financial institutions in Brazil where he helped develop a multitude of analytical applications focusing customer segmentation, credit scoring and fraud detection.
