Basler Insurance unifies enterprise data with SAS®
SAS® is single business analytics platform, centralized data warehouse for entire insurance group
Dealing with compounded internal big data challenges, Basler Insurance needed to integrate its sister companies, German Ring Life Insurance and German Ring Property-Casualty Group, into a single business intelligence platform with a centralized data warehouse. Basler Insurance chose SAS as its data management platform and also upgraded to SAS 9.3, the latest software from business analytics leader SAS.
SAS® Enterprise Guide® is fundamental to Basler Insurance's corporate control, which feeds targeted data marts for several underwriting, marketing and sales management applications. Some 3,000 internal and external users access the various SAS solutions and portals.
"After considering several migration scenarios, we quickly targeted SAS to meet our needs," said Franz Schumann, Head of Project Migration at Basler Insurance. "Moving the German Ring data from an IBM to a SAS platform was key in obtaining a unified view of the entire group's data and efficient data management. This is an exceptional project since we are bringing an existing system to a new platform by 2013 – all while staying fully operational."
