How long have you been using SAS®?

35+ years.

What SAS products have you used in the past? What products and solutions are you currently using?

As a statistician, my bread-and-butter SAS products have been Base SAS, SAS/STAT® and SAS/GRAPH®, with occasional dabbling into SAS/OR® and SAS/ETS®. In addition to those, I now use SAS® Enterprise Guide® fairly regularly.

What is a problem you have solved using SAS?

I work in health services research. We are attempting to understand which therapies work best for which people in real-world settings.

How has SAS changed in the time you have been using it?

Thank goodness I am no longer tied to the mainframe! Support for different platforms has expanded the ways we can use it.

Have you ever attended a SAS users group meeting or SAS Global Forum? If yes, please list them.

I have attended six or eight over the years.

Has your work with SAS been influenced by any other members of the SAS community?

Rick Langston and Dave Christiansen were early influences. Rick (now at SAS) was a programmer for the SENIC study at UNC while I was a graduate student there. Dave was a fellow graduate student, but was already into big data. Later, Frank Harrell showed me the value of macros for statistical analyses, and attempting to read his code showed me the value of documentation. (Sorry, Frank.)
