Know all the possibilities with SAS
SAS Australia and New Zealand envisions and strives to maintain a workplace that sees its employees motivated, innovative, inspired and committed. SAS employees are always willing to go the extra mile; working together, using initiative and creativity to find solutions and achieve goals. Through a range of programs and initiatives, we encourage staff participation and true ownership over their work and their environment
SAS is an equal opportunity employer and we recognise the value of diversity in our workforce.
SAS ANZ company values, mission and vision are applied through the strong culture which at its heart is all about participation. SAS believes in employees getting involved and looking at the issues facing the business and being actively involved in providing solutions. As an example, company events are designed and run by the employees, not by management. This creates a greater feeling of ownership, camaraderie and responsibility for delivering the right outcome. It also harvests a feeling and culture of trust, where management trust their employees to participate and lead, and this trust translates into employee satisfaction and motivation.
The high value placed on employees resulted in SAS establishing comprehensive programs which comprise of employees who volunteer their time to work on projects with the sole purpose of making SAS a better place for all employees. This has resulted in several major initiatives, from formal training of each employee on behaviour to reviewing company provided benefits.
Employees at SAS are empowered to make SAS a better place to work. We truly believe that the power is in their hands to create a better future today.
Development at SAS
All employees of SAS have Development Objectives in their performance plans and they are encouraged to participate in training to improve their learning, growth and to develop their careers.
The majority of the development opportunities at SAS are targeted at, and relate to, the accomplishment of role responsibilities. There is a very comprehensive Learning and Development (L&D) program that starts from the day employees join with a six month development plan put in place.
As part of Development and role responsibility HR has also implemented a system called "WorkDay" which assists employees to stay on target with their goals, KPI's, expectations and responsibilities. Instead of just evaluating performance once annually, each employee goes through their success factors at various points through the year to evaluate their progress and work with their manager to achieve their targeted outcomes.
SAS has state-of-the-art education and training facilities at SAS Australia HQ in Sydney where training is offered to external clients, but it also remains available to staff to participate in courses and SAS training at no cost to the employee.
Life at SAS
SAS ANZ prides itself on being a Great Place to Work. We believe it is not one single program or benefit but a collection of these programs and offering built into our culture at SAS. Below are a few of our offering SAS ANZ has to offer.
Welcoming New Employees
A 2 day induction program is held quarterly at the SAS Sydney Office. All new employees attend induction in their first month to help gain understanding and insight on the business, and to make them feel comfortable and welcome. The induction covers all aspects of the business from customer engagement to back office policies and procedures, and provides an introduction to the various departments and managers of the business.
During the induction program a networking activity is held with the Directors, and employees are invited to an " Induction Drinks Meet and Greet ", an opportunity for newcomers to meet and engage with their peers.
The quarterly staff forum “SAS Live” is used as a regular communication channel to inform staff of financial results, upcoming programs and to celebrate successes and present awards. All employees are required to attend SAS Live updates as an opportunity to hear what is going on in all facets of the business. It encourages team participation and emphasises the importance of team work and how each employee contributes to the business. That afternoon staff head out for an off-site team building activity. In the past we have participated in bowling, golf, charity activities, game days and lawn bowls.
Each year SAS holds a Sales Kick-Off conference in January at an off-site location, for all Australian and New Zealand staff. This is where SAS ANZ provides its employees with the various strategies, messages and objectives for the upcoming year. In addition to this, Kick-off provides the means for SAS staff to meet and socialise with each other. Recent SAS Kick-offs have been held at locations on the northern and central NSW coast and generally held over a 3-day period.
Healthy Lifestyle Program
SAS understands that by maintaining a work/life balance, employees will feel energized, motivated and happy within their work and personal environment. SAS supports employees in achieving a work/life balance through its Healthy Lifestyle program. The three pillars to a healthy lifestyle model are finance, mental and physical health. We aim to run programs throughout the year which target these areas.
This program is funded by SAS ANZ and includes a range of programs. Some iniatives we have run are:
- Exercise and fitness classes
- Flu vaccinations
- Ergonomic assessment
- SAS Walkabout challenge (Pedometre Challenge)
- On site financial advice
- SAS Biggest Loser (5kg in 5 weeks Challenge)
- Weight Watchers - At Work

- Stress Management seminars
- Fresh fruit delivered to work
