How long have you been using SAS®?

33 years.

What SAS products have you used in the past and what products and solutions are you currently using?

Currently using: SAS 9.3, SAS/ACCESS® to Oracle, SAS Macro, SAS SQL, SAS for Windows
Used in past: SAS 79.6 to 8.2, SAS/AF®, SAS MDDB, SAS/IntrNet®, SAS/FSP®, SAS/GRAPH®, SAS/ACCESS® to Unix, SAS/ACCESS® to MVS, SAS Macro, SAS SQL.

What is a problem you have solved using SAS?

I created a decision support system for underwriters and actuaries on a TSO Mainframe and with SAS/IntrNet® in a UNIX environment.

What is the most innovative way you have used SAS?

For me it was when I created an on-level factor creating system. To create on-level factors, you input rate changes for the various lines of business, and the program would have to add up geometric areas of triangles, squares, etc., to come up with an on-level factor, which is the factor you apply to the rates to bring them up to the current date.

What is your most memorable SAS moment?

Giving a SAS paper at a SAS Global Forum 2007.

How has SAS changed in the time you have been using it?

When I started in 1981 it was one book for release 79.6, then the next big thing was SAS Macro. It has just evolved with so many pieces – Internet, MDDB, OLAP, etc.

Have you ever attended a SAS Users Group meeting or SAS Global Forum? If yes, please list them.
