UK firms struggling to find the big data skills they need
New research highlights extent of problem facing UK businesses
The e-skills UK research represents the largest study into the uptake of data analytics ever undertaken in the UK.
The survey of more than 1,000 UK employers of various sizes reveals:
- nearly one in four respondents said they had either 'poor' or 'very poor' knowledge of big data related concepts and technologies
- more than half had found it 'difficult' or 'very difficult' to find people with the required skills, qualifications or experience needed
- uptake of big data analytics among larger enterprises is expected to more than double from 14% to 29% up to 2017, with the number of specialist big data staff increasing by 243% over the same period
