How long have you been using SAS®?

17 years.

What SAS products have you used in the past? What products and solutions are you currently using?

What is a problem you have solved using SAS?

Analyzing statistics for multiple types of groupings of data at the same time.

What is the most innovative way you have used SAS?

Writing Base SAS code with SCL to make very flexible code that looks at data sets for the specifications.

What is your most memorable SAS moment?

Troubleshooting SAS/AF and SCL code – the problem turned out to be a colon was used where a semicolon was required (on a return statement) so the program continued through the next section.

How has SAS changed in the time you have been using it?

The output options especially have become much better, and the SAS/AF components are more flexible.

Have you ever attended a SAS users group meeting or SAS Global Forum? If yes, please list them.

SAS Users Group International in 1996 (Chicago), SAS Users Group International in 2002 (Orlando) and SAS Global Forum in 2009 (Washington, DC).

Has your work with SAS been influenced by any other members of the SAS community?

I learned SAS by writing documentation for programs, which was my first job out of college. I learned SAS/AF and SCL before I learned Base SAS, which was interesting.

If you could point a new SAS user to one resource, what would it be?

I highly recommend the SAS training courses. And if you've never attended SAS Global Forum, that definitely gets you familiar with what you can do with SAS.
