Managing Director, SAS Australia and New Zealand
David Bowie was appointed Managing Director of SAS Australia and New Zealand in April 2012. David brings a hands-on leadership approach and is passionate about fostering a customer-driven culture throughout his expanding team.
Joining the company in 2002, David has a 10 year record of SAS experience and achievement, previously as the Marketing and Services Director. In his time at SAS, David has played a key role in driving the company’s strategic shift from a product-based model to one that is sector and solution-centric. He has also been instrumental in growing the awareness and understanding of SAS’s business analytics across Australia and New Zealand.
On his leadership appointment, David announced a significant investment in strategic programs designed to sharpen the company’s focus on the customer. These initiatives provide customers with increased intelligence about emerging market needs and advice to ensure they gain the maximum advantage from their investment in SAS solutions.
The transition to Bowie’s leadership coincides with the challenge of exponentially growing volumes of data from ever increasing sources. However, the industry focus has shifted beyond the hype of Big Data, with organisations now recognising that it’s about big analytics enabling real-time insights. With David’s focus on an integrated customer approach and harnessing the current market potential, his leadership is well positioned to take SAS forward in the region.
Prior to joining SAS, David held senior executive positions with Dimension Data, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is on the Board of Directors for the Association for Data-Driven Marketing & Advertising (ADMA), holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
