SAS a leader in Gartner's 2014 BI and Analytics Platforms Magic Quadrant
SAS, the industry's foremost analytics provider, is in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner Inc.’s latest Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms.
“SAS Visual Analytics has seen phenomenal acceptance by customers, who bought more than 1,400 licenses in 2013. The draw is the intuitive interface, graphic data exploration, and the world’s most trusted analytics – all in one,” said Jim Davis, SAS Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
SAS® Visual Analytics features:
- In-memory analytics for fast answers.
- Hadoop support.
- Autocharting to automatically pick the best graph.
- Forecasting, scenario analysis and other analytic visualizations.
- Text analysis, including content categorization.
- Interactive dashboarding and reporting.
- Integration with mapping technologies.
- Feature-rich mobile apps for iPad® and Android.
- Flexible, scalable deployment options.
SAS’ purpose-built analytics applications for vertical or horizontal uses combines deep knowledge of specific business issues with powerful SAS analytics. SAS’ large and growing portfolio addresses the needs of banks, insurers, retailers, government agencies, manufacturers, energy companies, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, telcos, hotels and more.
SAS was also named a leader last week in the 2014 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms, which addresses a different market segment.
The 2014 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms focuses on visualization, reporting and analytics that are descriptive and diagnostic in nature, particularly targeting business analysts. Last week’s Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms includes predictive and prescriptive analytics used by statisticians, data scientists, modelers and other analytics-intensive professionals.
In recent years, SAS innovation has spurred advances in cloud computing, data management, in-memory architecture and data visualization, plus support for the latest analytic techniques. SAS will continue to invest in and grow these technologies and more.
“SAS consistently provides analytics leadership by focusing on what customers want,” said Davis. “Our annual reinvestment in R&D – 25 percent of sales in 2013 – validates our commitment to delivering value to customers.”
Data management, also listed by Gartner as a SAS strength, will remain a key SAS focus in 2014. As enterprises struggle to prepare huge amounts of data for analysis, SAS helps data scientists, business analysts and executives transform big data into insight and profitability. Because many SAS customers like the open-source Hadoop architecture to handle big data, SAS support for Hadoop spans the entire data-to-decision process. Several new SAS products for Hadoop will launch in 2014.
For companies looking to cloud-based solutions to find insight within data, SAS delivers 25 solutions via the cloud that support drug development, education, anti-money laundering, fraud detection, marketing optimization, customer intelligence, social media analytics and more.
“As the demand for cloud-based BI and analytics rises, SAS will meet that need with more infrastructure and skilled professionals in 2014,” added Davis.
