Life Insurance

SAS provides a basic life insurance program for full-time and part-time employees.

Beneficiary Designation
A beneficiary is a person or persons named by the employee in an insurance policy to receive any benefits provided by the plan if the employee dies.

Beneficiary information should be kept up to date. If the employee dies and beneficiary designations have not been updated, the benefits could be held up indefinitely. The estate (which includes life insurance benefits) may have to go through probate, and it is possible that the beneficiary you chose may not receive the benefits.

It is important to change your life insurance beneficiary information if you experience a change in your status [i.e., marriage or divorce/legal separation, birth or adoption of a child, your designated beneficiary(ies) passes away, etc.].
