Suzanne Gordon

Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, SAS

Suzanne Gordon oversees the global IT infrastructure, business applications and support services that underlie SAS' successful software development and sales and marketing efforts. Her global staff and the IT resources under her supervision are aligned with business units within SAS. Throughout her SAS career, spanning more than 30 years, she has always sought to create an environment of trust and collaboration in which employees are motivated to do their best work.

By advocating the use of SAS® software within SAS, she has helped the company develop solutions that organizations around the world implement with confidence. She often speaks to other CIOs about how she personally uses SAS to manage the company's IT infrastructure, balance resources and ensure high-quality service to both internal and external clients.

Gordon became CIO in 2003 after serving as Vice President of the SAS Information Systems Division (ISD). That same year, she was named a Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader, which recognized her innovative, effective approach to providing hardware, software and project management support for national and international operational systems. Previously, Gordon served as the Director of National Technical Consulting and acting Vice President within the SAS Professional Services Division, where she directed the consulting, strategic support and partnering activities of nearly 300 employees.

Before joining the professional services organization, Gordon headed the management information services department in ISD for nearly 20 years, where she helped develop the company's information- and applications-rich intranet. In recent years, she has streamlined applications and support from a global perspective and aligned the efforts of headquarters staff with hundreds of their IT counterparts around the globe.

Gordon is a graduate of North Carolina State University with bachelor's degrees in math and computer science and a master's degree in statistics, and she maintains close ties to the university. She is a member of the endowment board and the Engineering Foundation board at NCSU. She also is a former member of the NCSU board of trustees, the alumni association board and College of Management advisory board.

A popular speaker and mentor to women pursuing technical careers, Gordon is also active in Communities in Schools of Wake County and is the SAS representative on their board.
